A lot of us ask, what is the benefit of a weekly exercise routine? How often can we exercise? Are we fit enough for exercise? The answers are here!

Regular exercise is necessary to achieve physical fitness and good health. It reduces the risk of developing cardiovascular disease, and high cholesterol by boosting serum levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), or “good,” cholesterol and decreasing the levels of unhealthy triglycerides. In addition, regular physical activity can help you prevent or manage a wide range of health problems and concerns, including stroke, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, depression,certain types of cancer, arthritis and falls.

Once you exercise regularly, you will experience a noticeable improvement in your quality of your life. Physical activity stimulates the release of various brain chemicals (endorphins) that may help you deal with stress and anxiety. You may also feel better about your appearance when you exercise regularly, which can boost your confidence and improve your self-esteem.

Regular physical activity is known to improve your muscle strength and boost your endurance. Exercise and physical activity deliver oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and help your cardiovascular system work more efficiently, thus providing you with more energy to go about your daily chores. It improves your stamina by training your body to become more efficient and use less energy for the same amount of work done. As your conditioning level improves, your heart rate and breathing rate return to resting levels much sooner from strenuous activity.

Exercise can also help you connect with family or friends in a fun social setting. It gives you a chance to unwind, enjoy the outdoors or simply engage in activities that make you happy. As a general goal, aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day. If you want to lose weight or meet specific fitness goals, you may need to modify this regimen to meet your needs. Remember to check with your doctor before starting a new exercise program, especially if you haven’t exercised for a long time, have chronic health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes or arthritis, or you have any concerns.
