National Association of Town Watch is the nation’s premiere non-profit crime prevention organization dedicated to the development and promotion of crime prevention in communities across the nation. This year’s Night Out was observed on Tuesday, Aug. 4. In Edgewater it was not an evening when law-abiding citizens take back their streets from criminal elements, but a celebration and recognition of the skills and efforts of the local police, fire department and other first responders who are prepared to risk their lives to save other lives in emergencies and catastrophes. Activities took place at the Edgewater Marina where fire fighters demonstrated their skills of sliding down a rope from some 40 feet from a fire truck’s extension ladder.
